Made from 316 stainless steel, our open head 55 gallon stainless steel drums are an ideal solution for products requiring drum purity and compatibility of materials, depending on their composition. Due to unique properties, these drums can outperform carbon steel drums in terms of corrosion resistance, tensile strength and reusability. These drums includes a bolt ring closure. A bolt ring is a closure ring that holds the cover on to the body of the container by encompassing the cover and the top of the container in a groove. This ring is then tightened by a bolt that pulls the ends of the rings together. A calibrated torque wrench is used to confirm proper closure.
- The addition of 2–3% molybdenum gives 316 better overall corrosion resistance for certain applications compared to 304 stainless steel
- Extreme durability
- Complies with domestic and international regulations
- Cover included
- Bolt ring closure
Stainless steel 316 (SS316) exhibits excellent corrosion resistance. It has an oxidation resistance of 1600°F for intermittent service and 1700°F during continuous service. SS316 is often found in pipes and coils, as well as food preparation and laboratory equipment. The Cary Company has tense strength 316 stainless steel drums, which are able to resist against breaking when under strain and corrosion.
