Cel-Span® FR 603 is a zero free halogen polypropylene compound tailored for injection molding applications. This new product is made from a high melt flow homopolymer for easy mold filling, excellent UV and thermal properties coupled with low specific gravity and a UL 94 at 1/16 (3.2mm) of solid VO.
This unique product is recommended for electrical sockets, timers, and light fixtures, plus other applications where a UL 94 VO is specified. This product carries a service temperature of 100°C for 1 to 2 years.
The proprietary flame additive in Cel-Span® FR 603 works by intumescence chemistry, which is initiated by heat. This chemical reaction forms a char barrier and thus excludes oxygen from the fuel and temperature sources. We recommend that the barrel zone temperatures be set at 360° - 380°F for optimum processing, and a mold temperature of 110° - 150°F should be used for optimum molding quality.
Toxicity and Safety:
No adverse health effects from the use of Cel-Span® FR 603 are known. All additives in this unique formulation are located in the Code of Federal Regulations and have GRAS status.
Packaging and Storage:
Cel-Span® FR 603 is packaged in 50 lb. bags and 1000 lb. Gaylord boxes. We recommend that this product be kept closed in its original container or package in a dry location for optimum functional use and ease of handling.
