MINEX® is a proven, versatile mineral extender. With low oil absorption, excellent tint strength and a negative surface charge, MINEX is easily dispersed in both water and solvent systems and will optimize the color development and tint retention of premium architectural paints. MINEX adds durability in a wide range of coatings including 100 % acrylics, higher PVC vinyl acrylics, styrene acrylics, and VAE emulsion paints. It is particularly effective in systems designed for exterior service - when incorporated in the coating matrix, MINEX extenders will help protect the resin system from sunlight's UV attack for improved binder stability and longer service life. This photochemical stability a nd low oil absorption offers the best combination of PVC loading with improved gloss retention and chalk resistance.
The MINEX low refractive index is best utilized in clear and transparent systems where improved durability, light stability and resistance to moisture are required. In clear films, MINEX will provide matting in most resin types while maintaining its transparency and anti-settling characteristics. Wood and furniture formulations can be loaded to 15-20% solids without excessive haze to improve abrasion and scratch resistance. Curing and adhesion in UV cured applications are also improved. MINEX is nearly transparent to ultraviolet light and will not inhibit UV activation of the resin or final cross-linking reactions. Finer particle size grades are suitable for higher gloss systems as well as for powder coatings.
MINEX® functional fillers are produced from nepheline syenite, a silica deficient sodium-potassium alumino silicate. A complex in which the alkali ions are chemically fixed in the crystal lattice, MINEX contains less than one tenth of one percent free crystalline silica. This unique combination of physical and chemical properties delivers premium performance and proven value in a wide range of architectural, decorative, wood and powder coating systems

MINEX® Industrial Grade functional fillers and extenders add performance and value across a broad spectrum
of applications. In coatings formulations, these materials impart many of the benefits of micronized MINEX
grades, such as tint retention, weatherability, and abrasion resistance, while adding texture, traction
properties, and gloss control. MINEX coarse fillers are easily dispersed in all conventional vehicle systems,
and low resin demand facilitates high loading levels. These mineral extenders also improve structural and
mechanical properties in elastomeric, adhesive, sealant, cemented, and polymer modified cementitious
systems. Consistently uniform grain shapes and size distributions produce compressive strength and thermal
stability in a variety of self-leveling and troweled coating and overlay systems.
