AEROXIDE® Fumed Metal Oxides

The AEROSIL- manufacturing process can also be applied to produce fumed aluminum and titanium oxides. The treatment processes mentioned previously are also applicable here and result in a wide range of fine particle products with extraordinary properties. AEROXIDE® Alu C is a pure aluminum oxide with a hydrophilic character. In water it displays a positive zeta potential. Its primary use is as a free-flow agent and it regulates triboelectric effects. AEROXIDE® TiO2 P 25 is a titanium dioxide without pigment properties. Thanks to its purity and fine particle size, it may be used as a catalyst support or as a heat stabilizer for silicone rubber.

  • AEROXIDE® Alu C is a very fine fumed metal oxide (Al2O3) with a high specific surface area. Due to the electropositive chargability, this product leads to specific properties in various applications. It is used in PET-films as an anti-blocking agent and in fluorescent tubes and light bulbs as an additive for a homogenous light emission and better flowability of the the flourescent mix during the electrostatic coating. AEROXIDE® aAlu C is also used in powder coatings to improve chargeabiltiy and in coatings of high quality ink-jet-paper to provide high gloss and excellent printing.

Its structure also makes it suitable for use as an effective UV filter.

  • AEROXIDE® TiO2 P 90 is a highly dispersed titanium dioxide manufactured according to the AEROSIL® process. It is used as a heat stabilizer for silicone rubber, a catalyst, catalyst support, and photocatalyst. AEROXIDE® TIO2 P90 improves the aging stability of silicone rubber at temperatures above 200°C. It also reduces the flammability of silicone elastomers and has good transparency in thin layers.
