The 99G278 is a new UN Rated 15 gallon taper sided blue blow-molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic drum with a cover and lever lock ring closure, used to store liquids or solids. Plastic drums are durable and lightweight, ideal for outdoor use because they are weather resistant. UN specifications include a rating of UN1H2/X65/S, UN1H2/Y65/S and UN1H2/Z65/S for solids.

Specifications

The 99G278 is a 15 gallon taper sided drum with cover and lever lock ring. The lever lock ring holds the cover on to the container with a latch (or toggle) that is pulled from one side to the other and applies torque to the two ring ends in a similar fashion to the bolt ring. Ideal for safe storage, handling and transportation of hazardous materials, spill containment and cleanup of hazardous materials, original shipping container, bio waste disposal and incineration.

Material:

High density polyethylene (HDPE ) is the most commonly used resin. This economical plastic has good impact and chemical resistance, is naturally translucent and flexible. It is typically used for personal care products such as shampoo bottles. Adding color will give HDPE an opaque look that will result in an increase in weight and rigidness. We have a variety of these rigid and tough high density polyethylene products in stock, from containers, pails, bottles, caps, tubs and jugs. HDPE works well in below freezing temperatures. HDPE heat compatibility varies. Maximum fill temperature is generally around 171°F; however, testing is recommended with your specific product and application.

The lever lock ring securely seals the drum. Simply place the ring around the drum and close the lever to seal. To open, lift the lever to release.

Are open head plastic drums food grade?

Reconditioned drums are not typically FDA-approved for food grade. Our new open head plastic drums are FDA approved for food or pharmaceutical storage.

Can this drum be used the transport or store fuels like gasoline or Diesel fuel?

We cannot confirm that this drum can safely store diesel and gasoline for extended periods. We’ve had other customers who have used this type of drum for this purpose. We do offer Type I and Type II metal and poly safety cans that are specifically designed to store flammable liquids (like gasoline). These cans provide the proper ventilation for flammables and are made to withstand the corrosive effects of these liquids.
