Specifications
The 56W30R is a 30 gallon reconditioned plastic tight head drum with 2” NPT and 2” buttress fittings. This drum is made of industrial strength high molecular weight polyethylene (HMWPE) plastic similar to HDPE but more durable, with extra thick walls to provide superior performance and long lasting durability. The seamless construction of this closed head drum is suitable for outdoor use. High temperature is 140° and low temperature is 0°. This drum barrel can be used as a rain barrel, floating barrel or buoy, or storage container for chemicals, oils, and more. The included fittings make filling and dispensing easy and convenient. Reconditioned plastic drums are not safe for food packaging or any consumable goods. With all the proper components as a UN Rated product, the 56W30R provides optimal performance and protection for your products. Colors may vary.

Material:

High-Density Polyethylene PlasticHigh density polyethylene (HDPE ) is the most commonly used resin. This economical plastic has good impact and chemical resistance, is naturally translucent and flexible. It is typically used for personal care products such as shampoo bottles. Adding color will give HDPE an opaque look that will result in an increase in weight and rigidness. We have a variety of these rigid and tough high density polyethylene products in stock, from containers, pails, bottles, caps, tubs and jugs. HDPE works well in below freezing temperatures. HDPE heat compatibility varies. Maximum fill temperature is generally around 145°F; however, testing is recommended with your specific product and application.

What is the outside diameter of this drum?
Thank you for your question. Because these are reconditioned drums, the dimensions may vary. However, the outside diameters of these drums will range somewhere around 19-1/4". Thank you for choosing The Cary Company.
Are tight head plastic drums food grade?
Reconditioned drums are not typically FDA-approved for food grade. Our new tight head plastic drums are FDA approved for food or pharmaceutical storage.
What are tight head plastic drums typically used for?
Tight head plastic drum applications include storing and transporting chemicals, food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, waste, dyes, pigment, soaps, detergents, and many more commercial uses. Many of the tight head drums available from The Cary Company are UN rated for the safe storage, handling and transportation of hazardous materials.
How do I open this tight head drum?
For a tight head plastic drum, the cover cannot be removed. To get to the contents from inside, remove the drum fittings also known as plugs or bungs.
Can I use a heating blanket or band on this tight head plastic drum?
Yes, we have heating bands specifically designed to heat plastic drums.
What are reconditioned drums used for?
Because reconditioned drums are not FDA-approved for food and pharmaceutical storage, these type of drums are excellent for storing chemicals, hazardous materials and containing waste or solid products.
Can I store gasoline in this plastic reconditioned drum?
We cannot confirm that this container can safely store diesel and gasoline for extended periods. We do offer Type I and Type II metal and poly safety cans that are specifically designed to store flammable liquids (like gasoline). These cans provide the proper ventilation for flammables and are made to withstand the corrosive effects of these liquids. What condition do reconditioned drums come in?
Reconditioned drums are previously used drums that go through a certified cleaning and reconditioning process.
What material was originally in my reconditioned plastic drum?
We have no way of tracing what material the drum contained prior to reconditioning.
Can I store food or food products in a plastic reconditioned drum?
No, reconditioned plastic drums are not safe for food, potable water or any consumable goods.
What are plastic reconditioned drums typically used for?
Reconditioned drums can be used to store many materials including chemicals, oils and more. These vessels also make excellent rain barrels, composting drums, buoys, or they can be cut to create planters and more.
