Specifications
This new black 55 gallon open head steel drum is UN rated with an epoxy-phenolic lining. This steel drum has a white cover with 2 NPT and 3/4 NPT Tri-Sure style plug & flange fittings, a rubber sponge gasket and a Solid Seal™ bolt ring closure. UN specifications include a rating of UN1A2/Y1.6/150 for liquids. A bolt ring is a closure ring that holds the cover on to the body of the container by encompassing the cover and the top of the container in a groove. This ring is then tightened by a bolt that pulls the ends of the rings together. A calibrated torque wrench is used to confirm proper closure. UN specifications include a rating of UN1A2/Y1.6/150 for liquids. It meets strict wall thickness requirements, 1.2/1.1/1.2 mm or 18/20/18 gauge (top/body/bottom) ASTM grade carbon steel, and is tested for strength and durability.

Key benefits:

    • Includes a white cover with a Sponge Rubber Gasket
    • Incorporates a Solid Seal™ bolt ring that eliminates the jam nut, allowing the drum to be closed using a single wrench

Material:

Carbon steel (CS) is metal alloy that is made of iron and carbon. It is known as a cost-effective alloying material. There are four types of carbon steel that vary in strength level: low carbon steel, medium carbon steel, high carbon steel, and very high carbon steel. Engine parts, car body panels, and select knives are made of carbon steel. The Cary Company also has carbon steel IBC tanks, filter vessels, and drums that work well with many liquids.

We have had a few issues in the past with drums we have ordered from The Cary Company being delivered to us due to damage in transit, but it was the actual material of the drums. We brought this to the attention to the Cary staff and it was reviewed and taken care of.
