Bordeaux/Claret Wine Bottles
Bordeaux bottles distinguish themselves through a tall profile and a quick, curved shoulder. The appeal is serious and arguably the most recognizable bottle type, reflecting the same unique character of the wine itself. This is the most common type of bottle style. The bottle style was made popular by Bordeaux where it’s used for Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and white wines made with Sauvignon Blanc.Bordeaux Styles
Comparing Wine Bottles
Wine bottles come in an array of shapes, sizes and colors, yet they all feature similar attributes such as a round body, slender neck and a narrow opening for a controlled pour. Bottle height, shoulder slope and base width are some of the more easily distinguished features that differentiate the variety of wine bottles available. Aside from shape and size, glass thickness can also be a factor when choosing packaging for sparkling varieties.
