The 30WKCL is a CAN-LOK I locking ring, also known as an overseal ring, for 1 gallon metal paint cans. Precision-engineered out of high density polyethylene (HDPE), this ring provides a reliable barrier against spills during transit, withstanding vibration, pressure changes, and impact. Its 3 points of contact prevent paint migration while remaining consumer-friendly for removal with a flat-head screwdriver or pliers. Apply with a standard paint closer or rubber mallet. This cost-effective ring is designed, tested and certified to pass UN hydrostatic pressure test of 95 kPa and meet shipping requirements. It is non-reusable, but recyclable.

Material:

High-Density Polyethylene PlasticHigh density polyethylene (HDPE ) is the most commonly used resin. This economical plastic has good impact and chemical resistance, is naturally translucent and flexible. It is typically used for personal care products such as shampoo bottles. Adding color will give HDPE an opaque look that will result in an increase in weight and rigidness. We have a variety of these rigid and tough high density polyethylene products in stock, from containers, pails, bottles, caps, tubs and jugs. HDPE plastic has moderate heat tolerance, with a melting point ranging from 120°F-180°F depending on the product and application. Testing is recommended. HDPE also generally works well in below freezing temperatures.

What is an overseal ring?
Overseal rings, like Armlok® and Normlock™ rings, are plastic rings that secure paint can lids to prevent paint and coating products from leaking during storage and shipping. These seals add an extra measure of protection to securing the lid and are easily applied using a paint can closer or rubber mallet. When sealed properly, these rings are a key component to meeting many UN packaging requirements for metal paint cans.
Are these overseal rings made for all types of paint cans?
Armlok® and Normlock™ overseal rings are made for metal paint cans and lids. We also have some overseal rings made specifically for plastic or hybrid paint cans. These rings are sized for ½ pint, 1 pint, 1 quart and 1 gallon paint cans. If you’re considering an overseal ring as packaging for your product, you are welcome to request a sample to test the compatibility of your packaging with these seals.
How do you attach and remove these overseal rings?
Make sure the paint can lid is secure. To attach, place the ring on top of the can. Use a rubber mallet to secure ring onto lid. You can also use a paint can closer to apply the ring. To remove the ring, use pliers to grab the bottom edge of the ring and pry off. You can view a video of this process by clicking on the Videos tab of this product page.
What is the difference between Armlok® and Normlock™ rings?
Armlok® and Normlock™ rings are made by different manufacturers. They’re both typically made of high density polyethylene (HDPE), which offers durability and chemical resistance. Both types are used to secure metal paint cans. We also offer overseal ring options for plastic and hybrid paint cans.
Are overseal rings recyclable?
Our overseal rings are made of either high density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) plastic, both of which are recyclable materials.
