The 19W55Q 55 gallon drum quilt is an insulated quilt to protect against freeze, heat or condensation damage. Drums quilts do not use electricity. The 19W55Q insulated drum quilt comes equipped with a 6"x9" bill of lading window sewn to the top. This 55 gal Drum quilt blanket has velcro straps that allow for quilt adjustment around the drum. This quilt has a maximum exposure temperature of 185° F (85° C). This quilt cannot tolerate surface temperatures of 185° F (85° C) or higher.

Will this help from freezing? Or is there anything you know of that will?

This 55 gallon drum quilt is an insulated quilt to protect against freeze.

Is this product suitable for use outdoors? I have a barrel that stays outside all year and am looking to use this quilt. Will it hold up to the rain/snow?

While this drum quilt can be used outdoors, it is not designed to endure repeated contact with rain or snow as it is primarily intended for freight usage. If you live in an area where rain or snow are frequent, this might not be able to withstand those conditions.

Will this quilt prevent the water in the drum from freezing?

Yes. This quilt is designed to protect against freezing.

When transporting this drum with a quilt, does it require you to label the quilt to satisfy DOT regulations? Also, are they able to handle straps being utilized for securement?

Thank you for your inquiry. This drum quilt has a label pocket for a bill of lading. You aren't required to label drum for the DOT unless it contains hazardous materials. If labeling is required, we recommend labeling the quilt, as well. Will this drum quilt maintain a consistent temperature over a period of 7 days?

This quilt will maintain the drum's temperature for approximately 8 to 10 hours. To ensure a consistent temperature for 7 days or longer, you may want to consider using one of our drum heaters.

I'm looking for something that will work with my wine barrel. It's about 30 inches in diameter. The description on this item says 27 inch width. Is that exact? Any chance this will work? If not, do you have anything slightly bigger?

Thank you for your question. While this insulated quilt should fit your 30" wine barrel, we cannot guarantee it. However, with Product #19B5DI, a barrel's diameter greater than 22.3" allows for an optional expansion strip. Thank you for choosing The Cary Company.

I bought three of the 55 gallon drum insulated blankets for my husband. He is a commercial waterman and these have been what he has wanted to preserve his crab barrels and bait. They are great.
