Drum gauges are used to visually monitor the liquid level of contents inside drums. Liquid level gauges are the most popular type, as they are essential for providing an accurate measurement of the liquid inventory. Leak detection and gauge alarms are other commonly used gauges that alert you when drums are leaking, overfilled, or low on liquid.

Gauge size indicates the size of a drum or IBC tote gauge needed for measuring liquid levels. The size of the gauge typically depends on the thread size of the container. Thread size is measured by the diameter of the thread, which will usually be a National Pipe Thread (NPT) or National Pipe Straight (NPS). The difference between these two can be easily identified - NPT threads are tapered while NPS threads are straight, just as their names state. Another way to distinguish them would be to see if there is an o-ring, as NPT threads are not designed to seal with one.
