Salvage & Overpack Drums

Salvage drums are used to carry leaking or damaged containers, preventing harmful spills and contamination. Our collection of salvage drums ranges from 5 to 110 gallons, with larger sizes available to accommodate leaking 55 gallon drums and alike. 

Salvage drums are typically bright yellow to communicate that they contain hazardous material. However, we also carry black and gray models, designated as salvage with red lettering or lids.

Both plastic salvage drums and steel salvage drums are made out of chemically-resistant materials and can be UN rated for hazardous products. We offer durable HDPE, LLDPE, carbon steel, or steel salvage drums. They are reinforced with protective closures– screw on covers, bolt rings, or lever lock rings– to ensure safe transportation.

Both salvage and overpack drums are used to contain harmful leaks and spills; the difference lies in whether the leak is active or anticipated. 

Salvage drums are used for actively leaking containers, controlling and containing the spill. They can also transport used components of spill kits after they’ve been used to absorb hazardous substances.

Overpack drums are used to protect containers from acquiring leaks, preventing potential damage and spills.

Overpack drums are used as a shell-like protective layer to prevent smaller containers from leaking. A container holding hazardous substances or alike is placed inside an overpack drum. In the event that the internal container leaks, the overpack drum will contain the substance.

Our overpack drum sizes range from 20 to 180 gallons because overpack drums need to be bigger than the containers they hold. For example, you can use a 55 gallon overpack drum to carry a 30 or 40 gallon drum of oil.
