Reconditioned IBC Totes

Reconditioned IBC totes contain a reconditioned tote tank, reconditioned cage, and a steel or plastic pallet. Being reconditioned means it has been previously used and thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and repaired to a usable condition. Reconditioned IBC totes can be UN Rated to store hazardous materials, but they are not recommended for food applications.

A reconditioned IBC tote goes through a thorough cleaning process that involves 5 main steps: (1) The IBC gets emptied and all remaining contents are removed. (2) The tote is inspected for signs of damage such as cracks, dents, and corrosion. (3) The inside of the container is washed with high pressure cleaning solutions followed by a rinse of clean water. (4) A pressure test is conducted to confirm that the IBC does not leak and meets required standards. (5) The IBC gets fully dried before storage or reuse.

The lifespan of IBC tanks, new and reconditioned, is typically around five years or longer. This number can vary, but it usually depends on the contents being stored inside the tanks and the conditions they are being stored in. If the tank is storing or previously stored harsh chemicals or substances, its lifespan may be reduced compared to tanks storing water or grains. IBC tanks being stored outside in extreme temperatures also pose the risk of becoming damaged and lasting for a shorter period. Proper maintenance and storage can help extend the lifespan of IBC tanks.
