- The 30W126 is a 1 gallon 1-3/4" Delta white F-Style metal tin can. Also known as a square or oblong can, it has a rectangular body and base, making it space efficient for shipping and shelving. Any filling temperature above 130°F could create a vacuum in the container and cause side wall paneling. The Cary Company offers closures for the 30W126, such as lined caps and inner seals. This metal container has a layer of tinplate mill oil, often referred to as TMO or protective oil, applied to tinplate coils, serving several tightly controlled functions across corrosion protection, processability and surface quality. Freshly produced tinplate is highly susceptible to oxidation, especially at cut edges and micro-porosities in the tin coating. Mill oil forms a thin hydrophobic barrier that limits oxygen and moisture contact, reduces the risk of “white rust” (tin oxide formation) and preserves brightness during storage and transit.
