Gentoo™ 50 Gallon (Part B) Hydrophobic Coating

Gentoo™ is a clear hydrophobic coating that is both corrosion resistant and easy cleaning. This dense polymer system has a low surface energy, low porosity and high density allowing it to act as a barrier against water and corrosive ions. This product offers chemical resistance to most solvents, oils and acids. Gentoo™ combines the clarity and abrasion resistance of traditional hydrophobic coatings and the ability to shed water of superhydrophobic coatings.

The coating can adhere to glass, surface primed plastics, painted metallic substrates and more. It has water and salt shedding properties that allow this system to be ideal for corrosion resistance, reducing the effects of galvanic corrosion of dissimilar metals. It also has a high dirt and solvent resistance due to its oleophobic, hydrophobic properties as well as a low sliding angle.

Along with corrosion prevention, a common application of Gentoo™ is graffi prevention as it allows surfaces to be easy to clean with less water. Gentoo™ deters graffiti as spray paint is less likely to adhere to coated surfaces, making this system ideal for frequently targeted locations such as businesses, schools, government buildings, outdoor fixtures like lamp posts and trash cans, etc.

To use Gentoo™, both Part A and B are mixed together and applied by dip-coating, flow-coating, HVLP spray or applied with a brush or roller. The final coating is about 4-6 microns for a lightweight barrier against UV exposure, chemicals, salt spray and more.
