405 Finish

Comparing Wine Bottles

Wine bottles come in an array of shapes, sizes and colors, yet they all feature similar attributes such as a round body, slender neck and a narrow opening for a controlled pour. Bottle height, shoulder slope and base width are some of the more easily distinguished features that differentiate the variety of wine bottles available. Aside from shape and size, glass thickness can also be a factor when choosing packaging for sparkling varieties. Learn more about the different bottle types and which is best suited for your unique wine in our article, Wine Bottle Shapes.

Material:

Flint Glass - Flint glass is a clear, colorless glass known for its clarity and high refractive quality. It is a heavy and durable form of glass that is suited to hold products that can withstand light such as water, sauces, and food. It is sometimes used to hold select types of alcohol. Clear (flint) glass is often used to make wine, woozy, Boston round, and salad dressing bottles.

Q & A
Customer Questions
What types of wines are typically packaged in this Wine jug?
Inexpensive red, white and rosé table wines are sometimes bottled in wine jugs (also called “Jug” wine). Glass jugs are used for bulk packaging wines and are sometimes used as an aging vessel for smaller wine batches.
Do you sell caps and other accessories for this Wine Jug?
Yes, we offer metal caps and more wine making supplies to help you create, develop and bottle your signature wine. Compatible caps that will fit a specific container are listed under the Related Products section of the product page. You can also search our website by the container’s neck finish. For example, 38mm 38-405 metal caps are designed to fit 38mm 38-405 neck finish containers like this one. However, the best way to check compatibility is to order a sample of the cap to match to your container. You can find out more about this matching process in our Guide to Neck Finishes.
What makes this bottle a wine “jug”?
Wine jugs are distinguished by their very short necks, quick wide shoulders and very wide bodies. These types of containers usually accept screw top metal caps and often incorporate a ring handle on the neck. You can learn more about the various bottles available in our Wine Bottle Shapes article.
Do you provide labels or other designs for this Wine Jug?
Yes, we offer design services, as well as label printing, screen printing and application services to help your product stand out on store shelves and drive your branding efforts. You can request a quote from our design team by emailing Design@TheCaryCompany.com or calling us at 630.629.6600.
Do you sell boxes and other shipping materials to ship my finished wine once it is bottled?
We offer a variety of boxes, bags, wrap and other products that you may need to ship your bottled wine through retail chains or directly to customers.
What are the style differences between various types of beer bottles?
Although there are overall similarities, beer bottles can vary based on overall height and shape, neck length and more. There are many types of beer bottle styles designed with different aesthetics and applications in mind.
