- The 68WP38 is a 38mm white industry standard cap with F217 and pressure sensitive liners. This closure is made of polypropylene and fits our 38-400 bottles and jars. Industry standard caps feature a textured top and ribbed sides. The ribbed-sided design allows for ease of use when removing lid. Pressure sensitive liners create an actual seal which provides an extra level of protection. They are best for dry products and can at times, work with thick liquids such as creams and sauces. Generally, these liners are not recommended for liquids and oils. The Cary Company offers accessories for the 68WP38 such as extra liners, shrink bands and more.
Pressure Sensitive Liner
Structurally similar to a foam liner, pressure sensitive liners have adhesive on one side, designed to stick on to the rim of a container. When a container is closed and pressure is applied to the cap (and in turn, the liner), the adhesive becomes activated, which creates a seal. Pressure sensitive liners provide an extra level of protection in that it actually creates a seal that sticks to the rim of the bottle. Pressure seals are not considered a form of tamper evident seal. They do not work well with liquids, especially oils. They can, at times, work with thick liquids such as creams and sauces.Cap Liner Type:
F-217® Three-Ply Co-extruded Foam Liner Composition
The F-217 liner is a three-ply co-extruded white liner consisting of a closed cell foam core produced from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) faced with solid LDPE on both sides. The opaque white outer skins create a high-quality visual aesthetic. The inner foam core creates a compressible yet resilient product allowing it to create a good seal with the container. Three-ply foam liners have become the industry standard due to their all-purpose compatibility, resilient, compressible seal, cleanliness (no pulp dust) and economy. Three-ply liners are taste and odor resistant, and have a low moisture transmission rate, meaning they prevent moisture from entering the bottle and affecting products. (This liner does not create an airtight seal.)Material Standard Metric LDPE - Solid - - LDPE - Foam - - LDPE - Solid - - Material:
Polypropylene (PP) is a tough plastic that has excellent chemical resistance. PP is translucent in its natural state but can have a glossy finish when produced with color. Some examples of common products made with PP are dairy and medication containers. Polypropylene is suitable for hot fill applications of up to 205°F and is therefore great for autoclaving. Distortion occurs between 240° to 270° F. It is not recommended for cold or sub-freezing temperatures. The Cary Company has an assortment of polypropylene plastics available for purchase, such as plastic caps and jars, which have a higher tolerance for chemical products. I love the pressure seal of these lids ensuring to my patients that they’re protected and I love that I do not need to buy an expensive machine to have the seal protector. I am able to simply put the cap on turn and it seals perfectly.
