Silane Coupling Agents

Silane coupling agents contain functional groups that bond with both organic and inorganic materials, allowing them to act like an intermediary between materials. The molecules in these coupling agents have a reactive group that can form a chemical bond with organic materials such as vinyl groups, epoxy groups, amino groups, mercapto groups, etc. They also feature a reactive group that can bond with inorganic materials: primarily the methoxy group or ethoxy group. Silane coupling agents can be used to improve mechanical strength of composite materials, for resin modification, surface modification and for improving adhesion. Common applications of silane coupling agents include use in the adhesives, paints and coatings industries, etc.
