Q & A
Customer Questions
What is the R-value of this vermiculite per inch?
Thank you for your inquiry. We do not have information on R-value of this this specific brand of vermiculite aggregate. However, our product team says that as a loose fill granular material in concrete block cores, this type of vermiculite aggregate generally offers an R-value of 2.44 per inch. Please note that thermal resistance is a calculated value that realistically should be considered in terms of a range. A wall’s actual thermal performance depends on many factors. Thank you for choosing The Cary Company.
How many bags of this vermiculite will it take to fill 250 8” x 16” x 8” concrete blocks?
Thank you for your inquiry. Each of these bags fills a volume of 4 cubic feet (ft.3) or 6,912 cubic inches (in3). You will need to determine the volume of each hole (or void) in each 8" x 16" x 8" block to calculate the amount of vermiculite (in in3) needed to fill these holes/voids. Thank you for choosing The Cary Company.

Do you sell coarse grade #4 vermiculite?
Thank you for your question. We currently offer item number 37WVMC which is course grade #3 or item number 37BVMS which is super course grade #4. We do not currently offer course grade #4 at this time. Thank you for choosing The Cary Company.
I have this in my roof that was built in 1973 its 2" thick? 1,100 sq home is this ok or normal? Used to have a wood stove in garage and was removed. Is it typical for whole houses attics to be filled with this product?
Thank you for your inquiry. Medium grade is too fine and dusty. The fine particles will not bridge the cavities. This practice is not as common anymore. When attics are filled, super coarse material is best because it’s less dusty. Thank you for choosing The Cary Company!
